The MVHS Tennis Team traveled to Boerne Champion to compete in a district match-up. The team racked up 26 games, but could not string together enough to get the win. However, displaying some excellent promise in girls doubles were Dallas Bull and Sara Hecker who hung in but eventually lost 4-6, 3-6. Also, in boy’s doubles the freshmen duo of Breaden Brooks and Jose Rodriguez played an exciting match, but again couldn’t put together enough games in a row to win the match. In girls singles, Kayla Essary had a fight on her hands, almost pulling off an upset, but couldn’t quite finish it. In boys singles, Breaden Brooks was in his element after a slower start. With some truly exciting tennis, he put the Champion player in a tough spot, but again we couldn’t quite close out the win.
The team, as a whole, showed great improvement and gained some very valuable experience against a state decorated team.
The tennis team plays tomorrow, Saturday, at Medina Valley at 9am against Devine. They will then travel to Alamo Heights on Tuesday for a 4pm district match. Come out and support our team.
