Team tennis opened their season Saturday with a dual in Kerrville against district opponents Marble Falls and Kerrville Tivy.
The team defeated Marble Falls 12-7 to open with a district win. In doubles, RJ Garza and James Masters , Logan Lyssy and Anthony Garriga, Tanya Theis and Emma Hecker, and Audrey Bell and Devyn DeLaFuente all provided wins to add to the team score. In singles, Ryan Tomaselli won in a third set tie breaker while Josh Osterhaut defeated his opponent 6-3, 6-2, The girls dominated with wins by Arie Ann Bell, Kayla Essary, Jillian Garza, Dallas Bull, and Sara Hecker. Rachel Coyle fought hard for her win, defeating her opponent in a third set tie breaker 10-6. Finally freshman Breaden Brooks had an amazing singles match defeating his opponent 6-4, 6-25. Breaden demonstrated a full arsenal of skills to make for an exciting match.
The team did not fare as well against Kerrville Tivy, losing that match-up. However the team did gain some valuable experience to help as they progress through the rest of their season.
The team will face off against Hondo this Thursday at 4:00 in Hondo.
