Medina Valley FFA Leadership Development Event (LDE) Teams had two back-to-back competitive weeks as they hosted District and traveled to Blanco for Area.
The district competition took place at Medina Valley High School on November 9th and included 14 schools in the Revaldina District. Ten out of 12 Medina Valley teams qualified for Area as they placed in the top two required. The teams were Public Relations, Ag Advocacy, Job Interview, Junior Creed Speaking, Senior Skills, Junior Skills, Senior Quiz, Junior Quiz, Senior Chapter Conducting, and Junior Chapter Conducting. These teams traveled to Blanco a week after district on November 16th. Everyone put their backs into the competition, but sadly fell short. Medina Valley needed to place in the top two positions in order to go on to state.
Public Relations placed 1st at District and 10th at Area including Lauren Cole, Kaelyn Winters, Montana Luensmann, and Samantha Flores. Ag Advocacy placed 1st at District and 4th at Area including Kirsten Macdonald, Wyatt Forrest, Koby Langford, and Micaela Ruiz. Job Interview placed 2nd at District and 9th at Area including Bryce Macdonald. Junior Creed Speaking placed 1st at District and 10th at Area including Michayla Chaffin. Senior Skills placed 2nd at District and 5th at Area including Kaleb Friesenhahn, Sofia Lozano, Molly Heinen, Hannah Persyn, and alternate Haley Tschirhart. Junior Skills placed 2nd at District and 3rd at Area including Garrison Garza, Zachary Hecker, Spencer Payne and Madison Winecoff. Senior Quiz placed 2nd at District and 12th at Area including Raygan Brown, Garrett Hoak, Jensen Griffin, and Eileen Zinsmeister. Junior Quiz placed 1st at District and 13th at Area including Gabriella Salazar, Kenneth Henson, Faith Pamatian, and Julianna Davidson. Senior Chapter Conducting placed 2nd at District and 3rd at Area including Bryce Macdonald, Garrett Hoak, Tayla Juarez, Sierra Brown, Raygan Brown, Eileen Zinsmeister, Jensen Griffin, Meredith Vincent, Paige Sheppard, Matthew Sapp, Joel Ortiz, Josh Osterhout, and Savana Meyer. Junior Chapter Conducting placed 1st at District and 5th at Area including Michayla Chaffin, Emily Friesenhahn, Brianna Gonzales, Addison Guinther, Susanna Livingston, Zachary Lozano, Zelah Santillan, Gianmarcos Villafane, Olivia Garza, and Abraham Hernandez.
Out of 104 schools in Area 7, five of Medina Valley’s FFA teams placed in the top five. Medina Valley FFA is greatly appreciative of its amazing advisors Mr. Welch, Mr. Black, Mrs. Williamson, and Mrs. Riff and is excited for judging competitions to start.
